These seven works by Craigie Horsfield depict flowers and food. They were commissioned by Large Glass in London for the exhibition 7 Wooden Panels that took place between the 8th June and the 28th September 2013. A series of seven images on gesso-coated wooden panels printed in many layers to create an extraordinary depth of tone and colour.

An extract from Liz Jobey's text: Rather as when we see a stranger in a crowd: we feel we know them and yet they remain other. So these basic foodstuffs: garlic, pork, bread might equally belong in a medieval marketplace, or appear as details in a 17-century Dutch still life, and yet they also exist now. Their images have the capacity to collapse time. The sensation of looking at them can create a kind of vertigo as allusions and associations rush in and collide. (...) They are the result of sophisticated digital and computer mapping techniques that control form, colour, and can even control the topographical detail of the surface as in Horsfield's large scale frescoes. Their reality can be almost violent.
