The exhibition Carlos Garaicoa: Photo-topography is being shown at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (EMΣT), from November 9 2011 to January 8, 2012. Garaicoa exhibits a new body of routed and printed works in which black and white images are converted into relief topographies and routed into blocks of polystyrene.

An installation of 9 photographs transferred to polystyrene, wood (80 x 100 cm each). 9 black and white photographs print pigment ink on aluminium plate coated with gesso (26 x 20 cm each).

Based on Garaicoa's black and white photographs, a 3D file is generated transforming shades of gray into different heights.

The finished routed pieces are exhibited over a mirror that reflects the original photograph.
