The tapestry 'Large Expensive Abstract Painting' was displayed at Victoria Miró Mayfair as part of the solo exhibition Super Rich Interior Decoration (25th September-20th December 2019).
Perry says of the work: ‘Many artists will tell you, it can be quite a horrifying journey going into a collector’s house and seeing how they’ve displayed your great masterpieces. Me, I can deal with it, ’cause my work often fits beautifully in a sort of modern interior decoration scheme. Well, one of the main things I did [for the exhibition] was this large tapestry ... which is entitled ‘Large Expensive Abstract Painting’, because I noted that when I looked at pictures of collectors’ houses, quite often front and centre in the main living room would be a large expensive abstract painting, so I thought, ooh, I’d better get on that ’cause that’s obviously a market segment that I’d better cover in this exhibition.’
Like Perry's other tapestries, the work was produced at Factum Arte's digital tapestry studio in Madrid and woven on Jacquard looms at Flanders Tapestries.
