Maya Lin´s Arctic shows the natural environment through a twenty-first-century lens. The artist employed the latest milling technology to study and visualize the environment in a different way.

The routed marble sculpture Arctic represents the topography of the Arctic circle. The abstract latitude of the Arctic circle is rendered as a tangible and contiguous plane of mountain ranges, valleys, and oceans. This work reflects Lin’s ongoing interest in capturing the different states and constant flux of the environment.
