Raymond Pitrè M.O.M. (1940-2024), was a Maltese artist whose multimedia and multi genre practice included drawing, sculpture and writing and which encompassed portraiture and evocations of the landscape. The common and recurring thread across all his work is his constant interrogation of the human experience and the inevitably of personal trauma and death. Themes which he explores through autobiographical memory and shifting personal geographies.

Raymond Pitrè’s work has been exhibited internationally in London, Berlin, Florence, Copenhagen, Brussels, Palermo, Algiers, New York and Kyoto. He represented Malta at the Venice Biennale in 1999 and his work is housed in national collections and other institutions. He was made a Member of the National Order of  Merit of the Republic of Malta in 2000 for services to art.
