Marc Quinn

Born in London in 1964, Marc Quinn studied at Cambridge University before returning to London to establish his career as an artist, as part of the group known as the YBAs or Young British Artists. Quinn came to prominence in the early 1990s with his sculpture Self (1991).

As a sensitive exponent of the art of anatomy and the issues of mortality, his sculptures stretch the viewer´s understanding of what it means to live in the world. His interest in man´s relationship with nature and its mediation through human desire, prompted him to use non-traditional materials to express both their beauty and their complexity.

Though known best as an experimental sculptor, Quinn has produced paintings, prints and photographic work. His work has been exhibited at numerous international museums and galleries such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou, MCA in Chicago and the Fondazione Prada in Italy.

Factum Arte has made many works for Marc Quinn since it was founded. These have included the vast bronze Planet, trees, print editions and paintings, orchids in various materials and a wide range of other artworks. For more information, please visit Marc Quinn's website.
