Hrair Sarkissian


Hrair Sarkissian is a photographer born and raised in Damascus. He trained and worked for twelve years at his father’s photographic studio. In 2010, he completed a BFA in Photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.

Sarkissian is interested in traditional documentary and photographic techniques to reveal that which is not immediately visible. His work searches for the larger stories that official histories are unable or unwilling to tell to re-evaluate larger historical or social narratives.
