A tapestry by Paula Rego has been created at the Factum Arte warehouse.
Eagle´s Daughter is a 2,4 x 1.19 m. tapestry produced and finished by Factum´s Blanca Nieto and Isabel Fernández López and woven by Flanders Tapestries in Belgium.
The tapestry is based on an 16th century folk tale. It tells the story of a beautiful young girl’s life, born to a man who was raised by eagles, and betrayed by an ugly, wicked old woman.
The work was published by and is currently on show at the Marlborough Fine Art Gallery in London. It will be exhibited until the 30th December.

Paula Rego was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1935 and has traveled between London and Portugal throughout her life. She studied painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, and her career as an artist spans half a century. Working from literature, myths, fairy tales, cartoons and religious texts, Rego creates narrative works imbued with mystery. She is drawn to subjects that are well known and well resolved, and takes her imagery from sources as varied as Peter Pan and Mary Magdalene. Rego currently lives and works in London, and is considered one of the leading figurative artists of the day.(Source: Marlborough London website)
