The big Growth Table installed at Design Miami/ Basel 2015 for the Galerie Maria Wettergren

Mathias Bengtsson has always described himself as a designer, but his works are closer to fine art than to traditional industrial design. Working with diverse industrial materials and processes, Bengtsson pushes forward the sculptural, technical, and philosophical possibilities of three-dimensional design. Similarly, the majority of his works are unique, or created as editions; requiring both high-tech production facilities and labour-intensive processes.

3D Model of the big bronze table

Mathias first collaborated with Factum Arte in 2013 having been introduced through Materialise (Leuven, Belgium). He had been using Tetrashell to 3D print complex chairs formed from cell-like structures. Since then Mathias has continued to work with Factum Arte to push the limits of what is possible - both in the creation of the forms and in the materials he is using.
