Frequent Factum collaborator Grayson Perry was commissioned by Stonewall to design a pin badge celebrating the 30th anniversary of the British charity to be auctioned at their flagship ‘Equality Dinner’. A limited edition of 10 pieces were then produced at Factum Arte to form one of the top prizes at the fundraising event, which took place on March 14th 2019.

First, an initial 3D modelling stage converted Perry’s designs into digital form; this allowed its materialisation through 3D printing. A positive was subsequently created in wax to duplicate the design into 10 badges made of silver, which then underwent the meticulous injection of coloured epoxy resin, that had been mixed with natural pigments to capture the exact colours desired by the artist. Once dried, the pins were extensively polished.
