Jimena Kato was born in Lima, Peru, and studied sculpture and video at ESADMM in Marseilles, France, before taking a post-diploma in inter-media art in Sint-Lukas Hogeschool in Brussels. Her projects often use sculptural processes to recreate archetypes from construction and architecture using both handmade and industrial materials. Her installations explore the notion of space as a container, and of text as a tool to engage the viewer with the space. Jimena currently lives in Madrid and her first collaboration with Factum’s digital printing studio was for an exhibition at the Twin Gallery in 2019.
