Laura Facey

Laura Facey is a Jamaican sculptor born in 1954. She studied art at the Jamaica School of Art in Kingston in 1975. Her work expresses personal trajectories of suffering and recovery.

Her work rose to prominence with Redemption Song, a powerful monument to commemorate the emancipation of slaves in Kingston. Similarly, her work Their Spirits Gone Before Them, an installation of a sixteen-foot cottonwood canoe floating on a ‘sea’ of sugar cane was also well received.

The work Laura Facey created at Factum Arte has been exhibited at:

  • Jamaican Spiritual, St Stephen Walbrook, London, 2017
