Manal AlDowayan


Manal AlDowayan is a multimedia artist, whose practice encompasses photography, sculpture, video, sound, neon and large-scale participatory installations. Her work focuses on the construction of archives and the processes of collective remembrance with a particular emphasis on the representation of Saudi women.

Her participatory projects like Tree of Guardians and Esmi-My Name have incited hundreds of women to channel their feelings of social injustice through art. Manal studied at the Royal College of Art in London and was a recipient of a Research Fellowship from NYU. Her work has been on display at the Venice Biennale and the Victoria and Albert Museum and is part of the collection of British Museum, LA County Museum and Mathaf.
