Ahmed Mater


Born in Abha, Saudi Arabia, in 1979, Ahmed Mater trained as a doctor. He has been creating art in different mediums including photography, painting, installation, performance, and video since the 1990s.

His aesthetic explorations and subject matter intercept the fields of urbanism, anthropology, religion, and medicine. He co-founded the artist collectives Edge of Arabia and Culturerunners and has directed the Pharan Studio since its foundation.
