Abdulnasser Gharem


Born in 1973, Abdulnasser Gharem is a Saudi Arabian conceptual artist who works with objects from everyday life such as rubber stamps, concrete blocks and domes to bring forth a debate about contemporary Saudi culture. He incorporates complex architectural elements and everyday symbols to draw attention to the role of bureaucracy, religion and authority in Arab culture. His works have been exhibited in Venice, Berlin and Sharjah Biennales and is in the collection of the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is the founder of Edge of Arabia, a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion of art education in Saudi Arabia.
